Hey beautiful friends! So great to meet all my kindred spirits working towards the same goal - to come into true self and life purpose for the greater good. I hope sharing what I've learned over the last several years during my Ayahuasca shamanic apprenticeship (both in and out of ceremony) can support you on your journey. We need more skin in this game! Phase 1: Initiation Into Apprenticeship
This is the beginning of my initiation into apprenticeship through the world of the Ayahuasca Medicine Path. To call is Phase 1 is not entirely accurate, for that actually began at the beginning of my two year intensive spiritual development training under Iyanla Vanzant and faculty (www.innervisionsworldwide.com). This period was vital to prepare for what I'd be embarking on.
Phase 1: Initiation Into Apprenticeship takes you through me stumbling through the flow, trying to decipher what is real and what is not, and landing in my most appropriate place in the Medicine - a small village off the Ucayali River in the Amazon jungles of Peru.

Hindsight from 2012 Reading over that story in hindsight (years after I wrote it) made me laugh out loud at parts. It was so insanely intense at the time - maybe the hardest thing I've ever done. But now, after four years of Medicine and experience, it blows my mind some of the things I believed (especially thinking that the shamans were above getting swept up in gossip!) And my emotional purges with the jealousy! My God - and I wasn't exaggerating either. Seriously, get a grip! As a quick follow-up, eventually the Western shaman put out an email "warning" people about us (quoting the Elder that Luco was practicing black magic.) The Western shaman and I exchanged a series of sharp correspondence. I was hurt and livid, and couldn't … [Read more...] about Hindsight from the Future (2012)
Commence Rite of Passage Integrity Test I had a game plan - needing to find out the truth. I was going to go on acting like everything was normal, and when I got there, present an option to Luco which will show me his true feelings. Then I would strategically keep everything cool with us, and adjust accordingly. If he really did want to be with this Peruvian girl and was just using me for work, I'd find out now. I would stick to my mantra...stay in integrity, and everything will fall into place. If I had to walk, I would. When he picked me up from the airport, I allowed myself to enjoy the possible last time we meet there, feeling a pricking pain in my heart that I may never see this man again. Don't let sadness taint your … [Read more...] about Ayahuasca Ceremony #35: Apprenticeship Rite of Passage Initiation
Another Blow It was a relief getting back to the US and out of the drama for a little while. It was difficult as people continuously complemented me on how physically and energetically lighter and more attractive I had become. It was hard with my mixed feelings...I knew the Medicine had done it's work, but I still wasn't clear on the people administering it. How much does that effect the ceremonies? A shaman who has had thousands of ceremonies must be completely purged, right? I had ignored the little things about the Elder shaman (the excessive drinking, the rumors) but I was just so confused. But something kept pushing me to keep trudging through. Within a week home, I was enjoying my time at the beach with my family. An email … [Read more...] about Searching for the Truth
Village Gossip Begins to Brew So the Boyfriend (ex now?) and the Spunky One had been visiting for weeks and dealt with the village parents "presenting" their adult daughters to him competitively as the pair had broken up (see The Reality of Village Life Sets In). They had decided to give some money to the Elder shaman to build them a small house in the village after they left. Being the middle man for everything, while the Elder was gone working at the program, they gave it to Luco instead (he had to run to Iquitos, and would see the Elder there.) Somehow only two out of the three envelopes made it back. Once this was discovered, a frenzy broke out. The tornado had officially touched ground. "Can you believe he would steal money … [Read more...] about Ayahuasca Ceremony #20: Village Gossip Brews a Storm
